Blandamere

This is surely one of the most interesting and evocative surnames on the British Register. Its origin is Olde French and as spelt is a part anglicization of the expression "Pleyn d'Amour" meaning "one who is full of love" and normally found in the modern surname of "Fullalove". The precise medieval 13th Century meaning is shrouded in mystery but it is probably a term of endearment such as "Dear or Darling", which are Olde English. The name development includes Richard Playdeamours (1284, Lancashire), Martha Blandermore (1667, London) and Frience Blandimere, baptised at St. Dunstans Stepney in 1700. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Christiana Pleynamur. which was dated 1275, The Hundred Rolls of Suffolk. during the reign of King Edward I, The Hammer of the Scots, 1272 - 1307. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.
